Camping at Pine Creek
Because of its size and location, camping is allowed and regulated at Pine Creek Conservation Area. Two campsites are maintained by Pine Creek staff. The Robinson Campsite is located on the eastern portion of the property and the Eagle’s Nest Campsite is located adjacent to the John Day River next to Clarno Rd and can be accessed through reservation only. Recreationists planning to use campers must utilize the online reservation option (coming soon) or call ahead to ensure reservation space is open. Potable water is not available at these camps, and campers are advised to bring their own water or treat on-site available water.
Primitive, backpacking or horse-packing backcountry camping is authorized if at least one mile from the highway and county road. Camps should be out of site of the administrative road-trail system on the property. Campers must practice “Leave No Trace” ethics, and all personal items must be packed out, including trash. All campers must register upon entering and leaving the property by filling out the cards at the kiosks on the property.
