Annual Bird Hunting Permits for Pine Creek Conservation Area

2026 HUNTING CLOSURE

On the evening of July 15, 2026, a lightning strike ignited the Cove Creek Fire on BLM and private land near the north edge of Pine Creek Conservation Area. Over the next several days, the fire spread south and east, merging with other lightning-caused fires, including the Crosswhite Fire on Rowe Creek and other fires in the vicinity, becoming the Rowe Creek Complex. This complex burned over 370,000 acres. All of the PCCA and Spring Basin Wilderness area was burned, as well as surrounding lands. Due to the impact on wildlife and to allow for their recovery, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs have closed Pine Creek Conservation Area to public hunting for 2026.

Recovery will be monitored and hunting is expected to reopen in 2027.

 

 

Bird Hunting permits are now required for all bird hunting on the property. Each hunter 18 years and older is required to purchase this Bird Hunting Permit which is good for the calendar year.

Don’t forget to submit your daily Property Access Permit when you visit the property. This is separate from and in addition to your hunting permit. These are available online or at the kiosks located at mile 25 and 33 on hwy 218. Also, please submit your exit (sign-out) card when leaving – and tell us what birds you harvested – or anything interesting you observed or experienced. This helps us with monitoring and population management. Thank you.

Annual Bird Hunting Permit for Pine Creek Conservation Area (PCCA)

Remember; an additional Property Access Permit must be submitted for each visit to PCCA.

  • The undersigned hereby agrees to abide by and be bound by the provisions of the Conservation Area Regulations and release of liability and indemnity terms

  • “In request permission to access the Conservation area, I understand there are inherent risks and other hazards of physical injury or death to myself and others related to my activities, including risks associated with transportation to, from or on the Conservation Areas or other Tribal lands. These risks include, but are not limited to, exposure to such hazards as fire, water, weather, poisonous animals and plants, loose or falling rocks, other hidden or dangerous conditions, and strenuous physical activity “I hereby freely and voluntarily accept for myself alone all of these risks of injury or death. As a condition of permission to access the property, I hereby agree to WAIVE and RELEASE FROM LIABILITY, and agree to DEFEND, INDEMNIFY and HOLD HARMLESS, The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers and agents from:
    1. Any and all claims for physical injury or death to myself, or to minors that I am signing for;
    2. Any and all claims for injury or death to any other person that arises out of or relates to my activities (or minors that I am signing for) with or for the Tribes;
    3. Any and all claims, losses, costs, liabilities or damages related in any way to my activities (or those of minors I am signing for) with or for the Tribes.

    I expressly agree not to sue or bring any action against the Tribes or any parties named above for any such damages, losses or injuries. I intend this Agreement to be binding on myself, my estate, my heirs and assigns.

    I agree to abide by all rules and regulations of the Conservation Areas, and all Tribal, State and Federal laws. I understand this Release and Indemnity Agreement includes any and all claims, whether due to negligence or any other legal theory, except claims based on willful or intentional misconduct. If any part of this Agreement is determined to be unenforceable, I intend that all other terms shall be enforced.

  • Pine Creek allows hunting of Chukar, Hungarian Partridge, wild turkey, pheasant, California quail, Mountain quail, and waterfowl. All hunting permitted is in accordance with ODFW hunting regulations and seasons. Fees charged go directly to maintenance and improvements in Pine Creek access such as parking areas, trailheads and kiosks.
